The Zapata reserve is an excellent destination for fishing bonefish, tarpon, snook, cubera snapper, crevalle jack and even barracuda. What makes the area unique are the three principle areas that can be fished: the flats, the rivers and the outer islands and channels. The flats, such as Las Salinas – a fly fishing only location -, where 80% of the fishable water can be waded. Here you can find Macabí, Palometa and Barracuda.

Another fishing area is the Treasure Lagoon, where you can get from Boca de Guama. Located in East Zapata Swamp, its crystal clear waters are famous for their trout population, many of great size, which makes the Lagoon the perfect place for fishing enthusiasts.
